Trash Lovers Lookbook Frumps

Upon spending countless hours on lookbook I also got an eyeful of boring, drab, and unattractive clothing. As well as people who don't seem to grasp the concept of fashion.  Lookbook is infamous with self proclaimed fashion stylists, bloggers, photographers, and models. Yet, when you look at some of these pictures one can't help but to wonder what kind of fantasy world they are living in?  I believe the most stylish people are the ones that understand the way clothes fall on the body (and not just any body, but their own), the ones that understand pattern and design, and those who can go into a thrift store and find something a little out there and weird and wear it so that it looks chic.

These are some of my least favorites:

Black Tea

1. Name: Laura D.
    Location: Belgium
Why not?: This Lolita look is interesting. At comic con or a costume party it seems to fit right in, but when people think that this is an every day style they must have a screw loose.  This girl is one of the handful of girls on lookbook whose signature style resembles that of  a side show than an actual person.  I don't understand why someone would want to look like a toy doll or a pedophile fantasy. Don't get me wrong, I love over the top patterns, styles and accessories, but there is a limit; especially when your age is anywhere past adolescence.  With the right fabulous little black dress the gloves and tights in the above outfit would be part of a great look.

The "color" factor

2.  Name: Konstantina T.
     Location: Rome
Why not?:  It's really hit or miss with this lookbook-er.  Some of her outfits fit her to a "T", but others such as this one make me wonder what she was going for. The off the shoulder ruffle neck shirt is not my favorite style of shirt, but the button up front is just plain tacky.  The color scheme is not working for me here and although the boots go with the pants and top separately all together it just clashes. But the most obnoxious part of this blog isn't necessarily the clothes it's the horrible "model" poses.  She may have the body of a super model, but she does not pose like one.  I thought Tyra Banks was all hot air when she talked about modeling, but now I see that just because you have the physical attributes of a model it is not enough to make a person one.  Her awkward poses actually divert my attention away from the clothes.

eating me alive

3.  Name: Paul J.
     Location:  Manila
Why not?: I appreciate that this guy makes wearable art pieces, but when I go onto a website like lookbook I want to find fashion that is accessible to the public.  I look at it more of as a tool to help people dress better; get ideas for how one can put together a great outfit that they can work and play in.  This is just another case of someone who has gone too far with their accessories.  He is a great artist, but not stylist.  I don't want to see more "lady gaga" style shit, I want to see real people wearing real clothes.  Save the haute couture for your own website or the runway.

He has done rather well for himself in the Phillipines (where he is from), and he has a website with his stuff on it.  It is interesting, so check it out if you like unique things here.

Intervention Pool Party at the Hard Rock Hotel

4.  Name: Katie B.
     Location: San Diego
Why not?:Well besides the fact that this girl looks like she would be in a "girls gone wild" video, her outfits are not flattering to her body type.  Just read the name of her look, can you think of anything tackier? She just looks slutty and not fashionable.  Most of her outfits are pretty trashy, which is sad because she has some pretty cute shoes. She needs to go back into her closet and reevaluate how to put a decent ensemble together.

Daddy Long Legs

5.  Name: Karl Philip L.
     Location:  Manila, Philippines
Why not?:  Don't get me wrong I love a man that can walk around in heels and wedges as good as any woman, but this guy does not have the style right.  His pants seem as though they are buttoned wrong making them look awkward on the body.  The way the pants sag, the way the shirt falls past the hips, and the height of his shoes  makes his body look short.  Most of his outfits are comprised of very tight and very baggy which makes his body gangly and strange.  Although I really want to like the shoes here I just can't help but to think horses and goats, and although this is interesting it isn't what I would call stylish. He just needs to figure out how to dress for his body, instead of trying for this shock couture type style.  The world is already full of lady gaga wannabes, what is next?

Fashion and style is definitely an art form and people all have different tastes as with any art.  These particular artists do not appeal to me because for what clothing serves as in society these clothing choices do not fit the purpose.  When I wear something it is to feel good about myself. I have to pick the right pieces to accentuate my attributes.  We are all not built like supermodels, but if we really have an eye for style then we can look like ones.
